Greg Nussen

Greg Nussen is an adjunct professor in film studies at Palomar College, in San Marcos, California, and a freelance writer, programmer and sometimes filmmaker from Los Angeles.

His critical analysis has been published in Slant Magazine, Salon, Bright Lights Film Journal, Vague Visages, Knock-LA,The Servant, Boing Boing, IfNotNow and on his Substack. He was awarded the graduate student prize for criticism in 2022 by the New York Film Critics Circle. He regularly blogs on Letterboxd. You can read the full slate of his writing on the index page.

As a programmer, Greg has worked for the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF), HollyShorts Film Festival (HSFF), AFI Fest and Brooklyn Film Festival. In 2020, he began Quarantine Film Club (QFC), a series of films that reflect the political moment.

Amongst his film projects is The Eulogist, which was a finalist at the Barnstorm Fest; The Parents, a comedic web series about an aging Jewish couple, and This Is Supposed To Make You Happy, a surrealist comedy about a group of friends in search of calm, currently in post-production. He directed his wife, Hannah Pilkes, in her solo debut at the Edinburgh Fringe, and directed singer/songwriter Emma Jayne in her storytelling hour Songs To My Inner Child.
